Good evening Ajax Spartans families,

After announcements over the past week, from both the Ontario Baseball Association and Provincial Government, our Executive has met to make decisions on House League baseball for the 2020 season. As you may know, Baseball Ontario has extended their suspension of team activity until June 15th. The Provincial Government has also extended Phase 1 until at least June 19th for the GTA, prohibiting group activity of more than 10 people. With these decisions in mind, we have decided to cancel the 2020 House League season.

This was a very difficult decision.  Baseball is a right of summer, and something we look forward to each year.  However, our primary consideration must be for the health and safety of our players and their families.  The executive of this association is focused on creating the best experience possible for the children of Ajax and Durham Region.  While we will not able to achieve this on the field in 2020, off the field, we will maintain our approach of putting our families first.

Ajax Baseball WILL NOT charge admin fees for refunds, nor will we refuse refunds to anyone.  To the contrary, we would like to thank you for your patience throughout this process.  Our options below reflect the value we place on our members, and the respect we have for what we’re all going through at this time.

With the cancellation of House League the following options are available to you

1. Rollover your registration to the 2021 season

2. Full refund

Finally, we have all had to manage our family’s needs over the past three months.  Whether this be financially, the education of our children, or ensuring the health of our loved ones.  Rest assured, when health and safety can be assured, and children are ready to come back to this great game, Ajax Baseball will be ready to welcome the kids back on the field to play ball again.

If you have questions regarding the rebate/refund options please contact karenwarwick@rogers.com

Yours in baseball,

Rich Leitch,

President, Ajax Baseball

We understand, whether there will be a partial or no season at all, still remains uncertain as we make our way toward May and what would normally be the start of baseball.  Having said this, we continue to be engaged, and work with the Town of Ajax and our governing bodies such as Baseball Ontario in the hope some form of baseball will be played this year.

These are extraordinary times, and our organization is committed to making sure baseball remains a source of pleasure and optimism for our members.  To that end, Ajax Baseball is building a plan around the two likely outcomes for the 2020 season:    1) That the season is cancelled 2) There is a partial/limited season.  Regardless of the outcome, our focus is on ensuring not only the value of the moneys you’ve paid but looking at ways we can say thank you for your patience in these difficult times.

Keeping these efforts in mind, it is best for our families to remain registered in order to take advantage of any offers from Ajax Baseball, regardless of the outcome.  Again though, our priority is to make this process as transparent as possible and anyone wishing to obtain a full refund, may do so at any time.

Yours in baseball,

Rich Leitch

President, Ajax Baseball

The town of Ajax recently notified us that all baseball fields will be closed until May 31st.  We have received many emails asking questions about the status of the 2020 baseball season. Although it is difficult to say for certain at this time how the 2020 season will turn out, our first priority is knowing our players, coaches and families will be safe and healthy.

Decisions regarding the season will be made by the Ontario Baseball Association in conjunction with municipal associations. Once we have any information, we will notify all members immediately.

Please be patient as we work through this unprecedented situation.  Please be safe, stay home and follow all social distancing rules.

Dear Ajax Baseball members,

On the recommendation of our governing body, and to remain consistent with other Ontario sports associations, ALL baseball activities are suspended, effective immediately.

Included;

  • Practices
  • Games
  • Team functions, including fundraisers and parties

This will remain in effect until further notice, however we will remain consistent with the various government and sports associations, and provide updates as we reach critical milestones, i.e. the suspension of public schools through April 5th.

Throughout this time, the Ajax Baseball executive will continue to function, creating teams and schedules for the coming House League season, so please continue to register.

As frustrating as this may seem, and I join you in the disappointment of a delayed season, this rigor is necessary.  Please comply with these (hopefully) short term measures and in good time we will be back to green fields, and smiling children, playing the best game in the world.
