Mosquito Rules

1.

All games will start at either 6:15pm or 8:15pm.

  
 
2.

No new inning shall begin one (1) hour and thirty (30) minutes after game start. Absolute curfew is one (1) hour and thirty (45) minutes after game start time.  The umpire will announce the time of the first pitch which will be treated as the official start time.

   
 3.The base distance for Mosquito will be sixty-five (65) feet with the pitching distance is forty-four (44) feet.
   
 4.Each team shall have a starting line up of not less than seven (7) players to constitute a legal game.  In the event that neither team can field seven (7) players, a loss shall be assessed to both teams.  Any player arriving late shall be placed at the bottom of the batting order.  The player will be allowed to play in the game no matter what inning it is.
   
 5.Three (3) complete innings will constitute a legal game.  All games will be played within the game time limit to a maximum of 7 innings.

A five (5) run mercy rule will be in effect for the first two (2) innings only.
   
 7.During the regular season, each pitcher will be allowed one appearance for two (2) consecutive innings only.  An appearance is defined as one or more pitches in a particular inning.  It is up to the team to have a scorekeeper to monitor innings or appearances.
   
 8.Balks will not be called.  The play will be called dead and the umpire will inform the pitcher of the balk.
   
 9.The manager/coach is allowed to make unlimited trips to the mound to talk to his/her pitcher.
   
 10.Base runners may not steal second base until the ball has crossed the plate.  Any player found leading off or stealing prior to the ball crossing the plate will be automatically called out.  Stealing third base is not permitted.
    
 11.The batter is not permitted to run on a drop third strike.
    
 12.When a batter reaches base on a walk, he/she must stop at first base until the pitcher throws the next pitch and it crosses the plate.
