BANTAM/MIDGET RULES:


DIAMOND LAYOUT:

a)  The base lengths are eighty-two (82) feet with the pitching distance at fifty-five (55) feet.
b)  The home team is responsible for set-up and removal of bases and pitching rubber.

PLAYING RULES:

a)  GAME TIME: All Bantam/Midget games will start at 6:15 pm or 8:30pm.

b)  No new inning shall begin two (2) hours after game start. ABSOLUTE curfew is two (2) hours fifteen (15) minutes after game start time during regular season. The umpire will announce the time of the first pitch which will be the official start time.

c)  Each team may field a maximum of nine (9) players as follows: 1st baseman, 2nd baseman, 3rd baseman, shortstop, left fielder, right fielder, catcher, pitcher, and one centre fielder. The minimum number of players required for a legal game will be seven (7). In the event that neither team can field seven (7) players, both teams will be assessed a loss. Any player arriving late shall be placed at the bottom of the batting order. The player will be allowed to play in the game no matter what inning it is.

d)  Coaches may continue to develop a player in a position of the players choosing. Players have the right to stop development in any position at anytime. Every player must be given the opportunity to play ALL positions.

e)  Four (4) complete innings constitutes a legal game. All games will be played within the game time limit to a maximum of seven (7) innings.

f)  Once a pitcher has been pulled from the position he may not re-enter as pitcher.

g)  No pitcher shall pitch more than 2 innings per regular season game. For the purpose of this rule, one (1) pitch constitutes an inning pitched. In the playoffs, this will increase to three (3) innings.

h)  A pitcher must pitch to a batter until he is put out, becomes a runner, or is substituted due to an injury. Failure of a coach to comply will result in his/her removal from the game. The pitcher will then have to complete pitching to the batter which at the point a new batter is assigned will be removed from the position for the duration of game.

i)  Every team must pitch 1 Bantam aged player in each game. Failure to comply is considered a forfeit. The convenor may rule on this after the completion of a game on his own free will. Umpires have no ability to track the age of pitchers. The home team score keeper shall track the pitching appearances during the game.

j)  The manager/coach is allowed to make 2 trips to the mound per inning to talk to the pitcher. The second trip necessitates the pitcher being removed from the pitching position.

k)  Balks will be called by the umpires.

l)  A seven (7) run mercy rule will be in effect for the first two (2) innings.

m)  Outfielders must play on the grass behind the baseline.

n)  Each team must provide a score keeper - the WINNING team is to hand in the game sheet.
